Deltion College is one of the leading VET centres in the Netherlands in terms of internationalisation. We live in a globalising world where both our social lives and economies are increasingly internationally interconnected.
To boost intercultural competences of our students and staff, we encourage the use of foreign languages and offer various opportunities to better understand cultural differences and similarities.
The international perspective students and employees gain from their work placements abroad, and from study trips and exchanges, helps develop their professional knowledge.

Virtual mobility / Internationalisation@home
Our mission is to provide every student and employee with international skills without the need to travel - Internationalisation@home.
An experience abroad is of course an unforgettable, intense, and irreplaceable experience. However, virtual mobility is an easily accessible and useful alternative. It allows for a large audience. It is also the perfect preparation for travel abroad.
Deltion has a growing number of digital online cooperation projects with partner schools abroad. The eTwinnning platform in particular is being used. Deltion was the first vocational centre to receive the eTwinning School certification from the European Commission.
By organising activities where different cultures within Deltion meet, we promote self-reflection and mutual understanding between different cultures. The concept of 'world citizenship' - in relation to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals - is of paramount importance to us.

Innovation projects
Deltion College participates in international cooperation projects where innovative curricula and teaching materials are developed.
Our goal is to innovate and improve the quality of the education we offer, while at the same time improving the skills of our employees.
4D Entrepreneurship
In this three year project 42 VET staff and 540 students from five countries form six 4D (dream, dare, design, do) entrepreneurship clubs and participate in Design Thinking projects. These are aimed at developing new, innovative, creative entrepreneurial education. VET students develop innovative ideas and pitch solutions to solve real-world challenges.
Learning without Borders
Over forty German Berufskolleges and all Dutch VET schools from the border region with Germany are involved in this project. The aim is to organise vocational education in the German-Dutch border region on a cross-border basis and adapt it to the needs of the Euregional labour market. In a practical way, students and staff get to know the language, professional culture and education system of their neighbouring country. For example by organizing joint exchanges and vocational competitions. More info at Leren zonder Grenzen.
Erfolg durch Fachsprache/SuTecLan
Young people and migrants who are pursuing a vocational education often are insufficiently language proficient, particularly lacking in technical terminology. Experience shows that low literacy and a poor command of technical language hinder the achievement of a vocational degree. Students without such a degree have fewer opportunities in the labor market, where skilled workers are currently in high demand. The international project Success through Technical Language focuses on teaching students technical language and enhancing didactic skills of educational staff. In this project Deltion cooperates with schools from Austria and Germany. Together we developed concepts, tools, curricula and training programs to further enhance student proficiency. Circular Building
This is a joint project with Italian, Austrian and Finnish schools. Starting point is joint research on the current and expected regulations on Circular Building (regional, national and EU wide). Parallel to this we engage in dialogues with regional companies about Circular Building. This project enables us to work effectively on this topic in Europe and makes partner companies (and VET educators) fit for the future.
Game on – Level Up!
This project aims to enhance and develop our teaching staff’s pedagogical gamification skills by means of new digital technologies. This enables us to create more engaging and motivating learning content suitable for all levels of students. Gamification (especially VR and immersive technologies) helps staff to produce more learner-centered content for inclusive learning experiences, to meet the emerging needs of work life.
These projects are funded through Erasmus+ and Interreg.
